Behavior Specialist / Assistant Special Education Director


Educational Service Unit 16, a regional education agency in West Central Nebraska, is accepting applications for a Behavior Specialist serving a nine county area for the 2025-26 school year.  ESU 16 offers an outstanding salary and excellent fringe benefits.  

The Behavior Specialist is responsible for leading a behavior team that consists of LIMHP and School Psychologists.  The team will provide assistance to local districts to plan for, implement, and provide continuing support to staff in order to improve classroom behavior and student/teacher interactions.  This person will lead the Behavior Team to plan for and implement observation, consultation, implementation, screening, monitoring, in-service and coaching.

The right person will also be able to assist the Special Services Director with all responsibilities including but not limited to state reporting, consulting with district special education teams, IEP questions, etc.


Requirements:

  • BA or BS in Special Education with an endorsement, experience, or passion for behavior, Masters Degree in Administration or working towards it.

  • Valid Nebraska teacher certificate 

  • Effective interpersonal and presentation skills.

  • Flexibility to work nontraditional hours when necessary.

  • Strong written and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills in a dynamic work environment.

  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to lead a team

  • Valid Nebraska driver's license with ability to drive to meet the requirements of the job.

Essential Functions:

  • Work as a team member with ESU 16 and school district staff.

  • Collaborate with Behavior Team Members and District Staff to design and implement behavior programs and continuous support to district teams

  • Attend local and regional meetings/trainings related to role and responsibility.

  • Assist Special Services Director with district responsibilities including reports for NDE

  • Support ESU 16's mission and vision.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience Desired in applied behavior analysis, writing and implementing behavior intervention plans, coaching staff on behavior strategies, Functional Behavior Assessments, etc.

SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST: 

Educational Service Unit 16 is in search of a speech language pathologist to provide speech and language intervention services to students in West-Central Nebraska school districts.  ESU 16 currently employs twelve speech language pathologists and offers a supportive network of professionals that embrace a team approach to services. 

Minimum requirements include: Master’s degree in speech language pathology, an active Nebraska teaching certificate, ASHA certification is preferred.  Clinical fellowship supervision is available.
