The OWLS students have been busy this week! The students visited the ER at Great Plains Health. Steph gave a tour, and she showed them all the cool gadgets. She also talked about how the students can advocate for themselves if they ever have to visit the ER. LifeNet/Air Methods showed us the helicopter and answered all of our questions. Thank you to Great Plains Health and LifeNet North Platte!

We would like to thank the Garden Glove for donating a bunch of flower pots to the OWLS/Transition students for their greenhouse. And also, thank you to Barbie for giving us a tour of all of the greenhouses!

OWLS students are partnering with the UNL Extension Office to plant herbs, vegetables, and flowers. They learn the whole process from germinating seeds to transplanting to selling the plants in May. Pete Ricketts' staffers toured the greenhouse as one OWLS student answered their questions.

T-Minus 2 weeks until the OWLS plant sale!!! The students could use your help! We are asking for donations of big sour cream, yogurt, butter, etc. containers and also any old pots you'd like to get rid of. We need them for this year and next year. We will try to have tubs at both ESU #16 offices for you to drop off donations too. Thank you!

Congratulations to Shylee from Thedford for placing 3rd in the ESU statewide Nebraska Digital Citizenship Poster Contest for grades 6-8.

Yesterday, the OWLS students met with Randa to learn about how Goodwill Employment & Career Services can help them. Goodwill employees help individuals living with a behavioral health diagnosis, intellectual or developmental disability, autism spectrum disorder, and other barriers to employment to develop skills to successfully obtain and maintain employment.

What an opportunity to Create the Love of Reading! 📚 Join us May 9th from 10-4 ct for a planning session to align Nebraska literacy efforts throughout your community!
